I'm shooting with my Savage XP Trophy Hunter on 30-06 with 180 grain bullet. Yeah, it has a kick to it. It created a lot of damage to the last doe I hit on Thanksgiving day.

I shoot a .270 most of the time and .280 once in a while. I will shoot the .223 when deer hunting at times.
I've heard a lot of good things about the .280. How does it compare to the .270?

I shoot a .270 Winchester 70 130gr Winchester PSP.
Backup is a Remington 700 .223 with 55gr PSP CoreLokts. I call it the Hammer.

I love my .280 and it's an awesome round in my opinion. Shooting 140 grain Accubonds I've never had a critter take a step after being hit by it. That being said I've had the same results shooting a .270 with 130 grain Accubonds.
Thinking maybe I need another .270

Savage .270, with 130 grain federal premium ammo. Very effective set-up for me.

Up until this year, the only deer I've killed a deer with is my Winchester .30-30. My boss invited me to come to his ranch to get rid of some does, and I shot two of them with a .22-250. Now my go-to deer rifle is a .300 Win Mag because I don't want to track them very far. 
Alcohol,Tobacco, and Firearms. Should not be a government bureau. Should be a department store.
