I bought a Rem 700 SPS Tac(No recall) with EGW +20 base and high rings(thinking ar height for some reason). Are high rings going to be way to high. Scope is a 4x14x44. Thanks

I would say yes I run low on my 42obj and medium on my 4x16x50. I like it as close to the barrel I can get without touching

Is there a really high cheek weld on your stock? Closer to the barrel, the better.

It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.

No there isnt. Damn it i should have paid more attention.

Heres something else to add to the equation(maybe). Im going to be also running a can on this rifle at all times. Will that make a difference? The can is about 1/2" higher than the barrel level.

Ive spent most of my time on the AR platform. This is pretty new to me.

Thanks for the help thus far

I have medium rings with a 44 mm objective and think lows would work better.

I run high ring Talleys on mine and it works great. I also wonder if it's me being a big 6'3" monkey tho.

Next time you're looking through your scope, set it max magnification and then put a finger out in front of the objective. It may dim the brightness of the image a little but I bet you won't even see your finger.

Sight offset is easily overcome in the ballistic calculator and with a stock pack to build up the cheek weld to the correct height, adjust until you have natural point of aim. Having said all that, I run high rings on everything, but everything is a 50mm objective. You can go to medium rings with your objective. You will see the top of the suppressor at low magnification, but it should only be in the extreme 6 o'clock area of the sight picture.

Best I've seen on how to determine your ring height.

I used to get the scope in hand then stack pennies on a rail until the scope would sit on the pennies. Then I would measure the stack of pennies to see how tall of rings I needed. Its the short bus method, I know, but it works.
