I have a H&R 20 ga single shot and wondered if it would be safe to shoot steel. I bought it for my kids to learn on and my son wants to duck hunt with me. Any suggestions?

yeah, it'll shoot steel. Not sure what it is choked, but if you are concerned about it just shoot 20ga Blind Side or Black Cloud. The wads are solid and there's virtually no chance that any shot will touch the barrel.

Wasn't born in Texas, but I got there as fast as I could.
