I shoot a Compound Father-n-law just got a crossbow

He asked me if he could use my field points so i did.

I told him I'm not sure if they can enter change but I could be wrong along also with broad heads

Any advice on this?

I know they make each type already but temporarily wouldnt hurt..

Iv read mixed things such as yes its alright just mechanicals are different but fix blades can enter change ...

Heads are interchangeable. For the most part, the different heads for crossbows are a marketing ploy. The shafts are larger diameter and some heads like the Swhacker can hit the shaft on openning. No problem with most heads in that respect. Some super fast crossbows can cause some mechanical heads to open on firing. This can be controlled with another band (or a thicker one) to keep blades from openning prematurely. I shoot Swhackers in my crossbow and simply take a dremel to the fins and remove a little material so that they dont hit the shaft. Fixed blade heads work without issue on either bow.

We use a lot of the same broad heads for both my daughters crossbow and my compound. Been reported problems of cheaper mechanical heads not opening up with the faster crossbows, but I haven't witnessed it yet.

Fixed broad heads no problem, mechanical are another issue. Like said above you can add more or stronger rubber bands or collars but then you are guessing is it enough or too much without testing.

Have had Rage broad heads for compound bows open in flight from a 330fps crossbow.

Field tips will work but are smaller diameter than the arrow shaft.

I tried it today the only thing that concerns me is the bolt when putting a field point on is wider but with adding a 125g tip its flush with the bolt.

Same with my rage BH I use on my CPB

I know you want to shoot the same G as the BH too

My Carbon Force are 8.6g with 100g Rage BH

The XB should match the same as well too but its all just a new hobby
