1. You feel safer walking in the woods during the day than when it's dark.
2. It can get too cold to hunt.
3. Cleaning a deer is a pain.
4. You want to kill the biggest buck in camp.
5. You go hunting when your spouse says it's okay.
6. Recoil is not easy to ignore.
7. Venison is very expensive.
8. Just owning a $1000 scope doesn't make you an expert marksman.
9. Men are just as guilty in never owning enough camo as women are with shoes and purses.
10. Practice (shooting) makes perfect.

bs I'll call it first on several of these. 1.,3.,5. and 9.. I have no problem in the dark as long as I know where I'm going. Cleaning a deer is a satisfying part of the process that feeds my family. No way in hell have I ever, nor will I ever, need permission from anyone to go hunt/fish/camp. I may update my hunting wear but I give lots of it away to clothing drives every year as well. I'm a hoarder on too many other things to store too much of it.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.

You can add a lot more to that list.

I'll start.

11. Your scope wasn't off. You got buck fever and missed.

Disagree with one, three and nine. No problem with the dark, I know it sounds weird but I enjoy cleaning deer. I seldom buy cammo. Now 20 years ago I would have aregued with you about two. But now I agree if it's too cold I stay home.

#12 - flat bill hurley hats, affliction shirts, and jacked up trucks are essential to hunting success.

I agree with that list. I don't golf or fish, so I have very little trouble getting permission to go to the ranch for the weekend. She usually goes with me also.

I have to admit that even with an indoor skinning rack and an electric hoist, I still don't enjoy cleaning deer and cleaning up the mess. I do it a few times a year, but it is my least favorite part. I have passed on deer at the end of a weekend because I just didn't have it in me to clean a doe before having to pack up and head home.

My primary gun is a Winchester Model 70 with a Nikon scope. Both are capable of more than I am.

Yes, many deer owe their lives to hunters feeling the same way.

I will say this. I don't care if someone wants to wear a cowboy hat. More power to you. I grew up in East Texas. Most of the real rednecks had no idea they were rednecks. They didn't wear anything to try to look like a redneck or a cowboy. Again, not that there's anything wrong with it.
