Ballistic calculators speak in Mils or MOA. That's the same thing the "custom turret makers" are using and they're relabeling the turret. So I checked zero and shot every plate on the range prior to going Mule deer hunting. And here is the DOPE I wrote down for a density altitude of 1700'. Once I got to Sanderson, TX I checked my "Shooter" app and it told me the DA was 2500' and that I should be .1 Mil less correction from 600 yards and beyond. Here's the data I wrote down in the spiral that lives in the stock pack on the rifle.



I came home and have been answering PMs and sae "custom turrets" again. So with a label maker, a razor blade, a block of wood, and some tweezers I made my own custom turrets. This is an old competitive shooter trick.

Not trying to beat a dead horse here. But if I were taking that pst hunting, I would tape the windage knob to that collared window. That way I wouldn't have to worry about the windage knob moving unintentionally.

That is a great way of keeping track of your dope. I usually either tape my dope to my stock or wear a wrist band with my dope attached. I keep different dope cards for different DA's.

I had a chart taped inside my Butler Creek and it fell off somewhere in the Chihuahan Desert. I wear a play coach when competing. I've also got a couple charts for different DAs but the best of the best is a Kestrel with Horus or Applied Ballistics. Lost mine on an elk hunt last year.

Do you always use a sunshade?

Yes I leave it on there. If ever having to shoot facing in the direction of the sun it sure helps. I've also got myself and the scope under a shirt or towel in that instance as well.

Javelinas were 510 yards at dusk. Mule deer was about 50 yards midday.

I gave up on butler creek caps years ago. Total garbage if you ask me. Now, I just deal with dirty lenses. Thinking about trying aadmount lense caps.

I'm on my third kestrel 4000. I broke the screens on my first two units. This kestrel stays in a waterproof hard case until I'm actually hunting.

Yes, Butler Creeks are crap Dont know how many I've broken. I too want the Aadmounts. Just have to make myself spend the money.

Name tag stickers are easy to remove with no residue

Scrape em up with a fingernail. Once the sticker is off you probably can't use it again.
