Unless you are looking for something pre-made, I just use a blue tarp from Home Depot and then use bungee cords to attach it. For the price of the pre-made guys, I can usually get 3 of the big blue tarps. I think I'm using a 16x20 on my Kubota 900. I use 3 bungee cords to connect from side to side and then two to connect from front to back. That seems to keep the tarp on with the wind we get in the hill country. My brother in law has one of the Kubota covers for his Kubota 500 and the thing was always blowing off. Now he uses bungee cords and a big strap to keep the it on.

I'm looking at a used RTV 900 myself, but find I'm hesitating because of noise & low top end for running better ranch roads to far off stands. Either of you care to comment pro/con? Would you buy Kubota again vs. Ranger or other?

My dad has had two RTV900 and they have been great. Both were purchased used from auctions, but that's beside the point. Like you said, top end is fairly slow. I think ours would top out around 25 mph on flat ground in high gear. It is louder than a gas ranger, but its a diesel. It has plenty of low end grunt, and isn't too bad at crawling around on rough terrain. If I could compare it to any kind of vehicle, it would probably be the old school Humvee. It doesn't flex worth a crap, but with the lockers, it'll go through just about anything with some decent tires. I will say that since it doesn't flex very well, it is a bit stiffer ride, but its meant to be a workhorse. We have had zero issues with the two that we have had. The only reason for the second one, was that it was a year newer and in a little better shape than the first one we got.

I have owned 3 Polaris rangers and now a kubota 1100. Polaris: Pros - higher speed and great suspension Cons - unreliable, Polaris service is horrible, issues with seat and floorboards heating up to unbearable, very dusty
Kubota: Pros - tough as nails, the 1100 cab is unbelievable - dust proof, AC/Heater/defroster - hydrolic bed - it is like driving your truck Cons - heavier than Ranger - suspension is not bad at all but not as good as Ranger. Top speed is 20-25 but that is plenty fast enough for me.
As far as noise? The newer Kubota diesel is not loud at all - in fact I think more quiet than a gas Ranger
So for me there is no going back - the Kubota is an awesome machine

+1 to what ZK-315 said. I think I can almost get to 30 mph on one of the downhill roads on our lease. However, since I'm usually driving around with two kids on my bench seat, speed isn't really that big of a concern for me. I purchased mine used from a Kubota dealership for the same price as a new gas powered 500. Pro's * It's a good bit larger than the gas powered 500. It easily holds myself and two 10 year old's on the bench seat. In the 500, we were all squished together. * It's built like a tank * it has a lot more power than the 500 Con's * For me, the only big con is that it's a little loud. But since it's a diesel, you have to expect that. * Depending on the year you purchase, you may have a 2" trailer hitch receiver or a 1 1/4" receiver. Not that big of a deal if you get the smaller one. However, you'll probably need to pick up one of the $30 hitch adapters so you can attach 2" accessories. The only other thing I didn't like initially is that it has an engine type brake that will throw you through the windshield if you take your foot off the gas really quickly. Mine was so strong, it would actually lock up the back wheels. However, you can buy an aftermarket coast valve that will eliminate that problem. You can pick up one on e-bay or an after-market place for about $180. It's simple to install, takes about 10 minutes and is well worth the price. You can also try to adjust the stock coast valve if you don't want to go the 3rd party route. Here is a link to a good discussion on it. http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/atvs-utility-vehicles/134776-coast-valve-removed-rtv-today.html
Thanks, Rich

I forgot about that coast valve. Good point. Our first one was a 2004 I believe, and the newer one is an 05. The 04 we had would do like yours and lock the brakes up if in the medium gear. High gear wasn't as bad. We put a coast valve in it and it was great. I meant to pull the coast valve out of that 04 before we got rid of it, but flat forgot. I wouldn't say ours isn't too terribly loud. Its quieter than the seat we have mounted in the back with some quick disconnect pins lol.

I wish there were more reviews after a year or 2. But I am tired of buying them $40 a year tarps.
