+1 to what ZK-315 said. I think I can almost get to 30 mph on one of the downhill roads on our lease. However, since I'm usually driving around with two kids on my bench seat, speed isn't really that big of a concern for me.

I purchased mine used from a Kubota dealership for the same price as a new gas powered 500.

Pro's
* It's a good bit larger than the gas powered 500. It easily holds myself and two 10 year old's on the bench seat. In the 500, we were all squished together.
* It's built like a tank
* it has a lot more power than the 500

Con's
* For me, the only big con is that it's a little loud. But since it's a diesel, you have to expect that.
* Depending on the year you purchase, you may have a 2" trailer hitch receiver or a 1 1/4" receiver. Not that big of a deal if you get the smaller one. However, you'll probably need to pick up one of the $30 hitch adapters so you can attach 2" accessories.


The only other thing I didn't like initially is that it has an engine type brake that will throw you through the windshield if you take your foot off the gas really quickly. Mine was so strong, it would actually lock up the back wheels. However, you can buy an aftermarket coast valve that will eliminate that problem. You can pick up one on e-bay or an after-market place for about $180. It's simple to install, takes about 10 minutes and is well worth the price.

You can also try to adjust the stock coast valve if you don't want to go the 3rd party route. Here is a link to a good discussion on it.
