Howdy,

Hoping I could get some information on this gun. A buddy of mine just bought it. It's an old 12 gauge Long Tom, single shot, full choke, 36 inch barrel. The only 3 markings on the gun are "Long Tom", "Barrel and Lug Forged in One Piece, and near the trigger is "119 B".

I know these used to be sold thru Sears Roebuck many moons ago, but I was hoping someone could tell me the manufacturer, date of manufacture and value.

All help is appreciated and thanks in advance!

I have one. Gold trigger, magazine fed, won't fit in the gun-cabinet, action is about as smooth as shifting a 1948 Peterbuilt? Marlin made quite a few of them, including the "Long Tom" goose-gun. Is the bolt engraved with the serial number? Oh, not for steel shot use. From what I've heard steel shot will put a bulge in the barrel. That's about all I know about them. I got mine from my neighbor in high school. He got it as part of an auction package. Caught him with the barrel in a vice and a hack saw in his hand because it wouldn't fit in the gun rack of his truck. Traded him a single-shot Stevens for it.

Long Tom's were 32" versions of "trade name guns" popular in the teens thru the 30's. Due to their affordability most were hunted thru the 60's and my uncles swore by them. Several of them still in my family. Probably made by crescent if older or savage if newer.

Probably worth $150 in great shape.
