Hello everyone . I am new to the forum here but this seems like a great place . Will be coming to Texas to make a whitetail hunt from 12/31-01/04 . I will be taking my son who is currently 17 years old but will turn 18 on 1/2/15 . The hunt is actually a birthday present to him . We will both be hunting and I was just curious if someone could tell me what we will need to buy . From what I've read it doesn't appear that Texas offers a 1 week license for whitetail deer hunting . If I buy the annual license is that good for a full one year from date of purchase? In other words we could make another hunt under same license in early 2015 deer season ? Also my son will be 17 when we arrive but turn 18 while we are there and hunting . I guess I have to purchase a license for him also ? Final question is we both have our hunters safety certification from here in Louisiana , is this good for Texas ?

Non-Resident hunting license will be required for yourself and your son. I believe the cost is $315.00 and you have a lot of tags on it. If you do harvest deer, be sure to fill out the hunting log on the back of your license, if you don't and are checked by the GW you could be issued a citation. If the TP&W hunting book is available where you get you hunting license you should probably pick on up to help you avoid any confusion about what to and not to do as far as tagging animals and such. Welcome to the forum and enjoy your hunting trip.

welcome

Here is a link to a web version of the annual Booner was referring to. All of the info you need is there. Be sure to check the regs in the specific county/counties you will be hunting in.

Welcome to Texas!

If you want some friendly advice, get a haircut and take a bath. You wouldn't get hassled so much.

And be sure to sign the back of your license as well. A lot of people get ticketed for this every year.
