I'm looking to add a new 30-06 to my collection. Thinking synthetic stock, and under $500 for just the rifle. Very familiar with Remingtons but thinking of looking at a different brand for this purchase. Any suggestions for a very accurate model on the market right now? Savage? Tikka? What models do you suggest?
Thanks in advance!
-George

Tikka seem to be the rage. I'm a Ruger guy myself. I would like one of the Rugers that came from the factory with the Hogue stock. Prolly find a used one in your price range

I bought a savage 30-06 with a 3-9 Nikon scope for right at 500.00 a couple of years ago at Academy. Happy with it.

Should move over to the gun section for more info. But, I bought a Ruger American Rifle in 30-06 a few months back and couldn't be happier! grin Thing shoots great and is dead on. Hiked around Idaho with it this year and was thankful of how lightweight it was compared to my old 30-06 with a wood stock. It may not be a top dollar gun but the thing is tough as nails.

Although I'm partial to my Remington 700 bdl, a buddy of mine has a Savage 111 with a Nikon 3x9-40 he got at Academy and he loves it. He said it was $499.99. Super accurate after he found the right bullets for it. I think he went through around 4 different brands, grain, etc. and found one that would drive nails.

Savage 111. The accutrigger is great and comes equipped with Nikon 3x9 BDC scope.

the Tikka stainless is certainly one of the market leaders in that price range right now. just compare them side to side with similar prices rifles. make sure you cycle the bolt action to compare. I like the Lite version, I have recently added a 7 mag and 243 Tikka Lite stainless to collection.

it is crazy accurate and can handle shooting more than once at the range. I have kills with it 300-500 yards in the last 2 years.

Killed 20 something animals in Africa with a Savage 111 .30-06 and countless deer, pigs, etc. That gun is cheap and is insanely accurate out of the box.

I bought one this summer in .270 with 3 x 9 scope for about $525 at cabelas. Very light and accurate, I have nothing but good things to say about the savages with the accutrigger.

Have both the Ruger All American 30-06 and Savage 30-06. Both have served me well. Would give the edge to the Ruger. Both are equiped with a Nikon 3-9x50 BDC.

Can't go wrong with Savage, Tikka, Ruger or Weatherby Vanguard. Browning AB3 or the new Winchester are good options too.
