You mean the unicorn bullet? bang Perfect bullet for the 7-08.

They become available again and I'm gonna upset my UPS man because the package will be heavy!

I've got a few boxes of the unicorns stashed away. I've also played with the 168gr MK in the middle to stretch the supply out a bit but they are down on bc a touch and velocity so there really wasn't much to keep me drawn. Now I'm stuck with 450 of them to use on something. I might try them in 7mm rem mag for kicks, heck it was the go to bullet for the secret service when they ran the 7mm.

Flip a coin. I have a 7-08 and have no complaints. It's a quarter inch gun.

Real world is .565 which is a good bit higher than the advertised .4488 Sierra lists. A plus is that they are a tangent ogive and extremely easy to load with.

Deer at 3.30 was at 731 went maybe 7 yards

all with 129 grain SST factory ammo

Nice shooting. Curious, where did you hit the first two that dropped straight down? Looked like a high shoulder shot, but couldn't tell exactly.

I hate having to track deer and my buck fever always kicks in somethin' fierce. Would like to know best shot placement to hit them to get them to drop like that. I'm not a head or neck shooter so that would be out for me.

Thanks!

Thanks,
We hunt in South Texas a lot, we have a place around Freer. In that country If you can keep from tracking by any means we try and do it. If you shoot them In the upper 1/2 of the shoulder you can typically get them to drop because when you are hitting in that boney area you may not get a pass through but you are expelling all the energy in the animal. You see that done a lot on many of these long range shows, Brush Country monsters talks about it every other show seems like. Some times you may sacrifice a little meat but shoot one in the soft spot and even a few yard in thick brush is tuff.

Id bet it has more to do with proximity to the spine than dispatching energy.

I agree it seems whether it is bullet or bone fragments but the spine usually looks nasty after a high shoulder shot.

How does the 7 Creedmoor differ from the 7mm IHMSA? 6.5 CM vs. 6.5 IMHMSA, and so on?

Just to make this conversation more interesting. Lapua announced last week that they are making 7-08 brass. Obviously, I'm a huge fan of lapua brass. Just curious if this will sway anyones view. Now if Lapua would only start producing 6.5 and 7mm saum brass!
