How scent free are you guys in your shooting blinds?

Not at all but I try to keep movement and noise to an absolute minimum.

As much as possible but not as important if you close the window where the direction of the wind is coming from.

As much as possible, but I have also had nice deer come in while having a cold one and eating a sandwich... Guess sometimes you just get lucky

I hunt from 16 ft tripods. I scent free shower before every hunt as well as keep my clothes stored with cedar clipping and play the wind as much as possible.

Even in a tight blind they can get your scent.

My blind is 5 foot off the ground, and 116 yards from the feeder without a direct wind in taht direction.

I took my son with me a few weeks ago and he had

some kinda of good smell on him. ( not deer woods stuff)

He is not really a deer hunter, like old Dad.

May have something to do with his tours of duty as a Marine.

Great shot but really does not want to kill anything.

Likes to shoot clays, never a miss.

We saw 14 deer but had three smelling the air.

They didn't bolt but knew something was not right.

I believe scent control to be very important.

I don't worry too much about it if the wind is right, and I try to stay out of blinds where wind will be incorrect, but sometimes it isn't possible. I picked up a couple of those earth scent pucks this year and use those, and they seem to allow for some good cover scent.

I always try to keep noise to a minimum as far as talking and stuff, but I have had experiences and I challenge you all to do the same, where I had kids in a blind with windows open (box type not open tripod or tree stand) and they were talking away and I couldn't hear them standing more than 10 feet away. I have had my chairs bang with deer present and they don't care, half the time I think they don't even hear it. Shoot, with the right wind I have a hard time hearing gun shots more than 400 yards away, and I am sure you all have had that same experience.

However, I do think movement is the biggest thing to keep quiet while in the blind. They can pick up a turning head and will become alert and easy to spook with the wrong kinds of movement. So I do try to keep that to a minimum.

I wash my clothes in scent free detergent and shower in scent free soap before going to the lease. I can't shower at the lease because we have to haul in our water and showering depletes the water supply too quickly. I try to play the wind, and I have my stands positioned to set up well for our prevailing wind directions. I rarely get scented when following this protocol, but if bowhunting I'd probably need to do more to eliminate my scent.

I will always start the weekend having taken the shower with the scent free soap and hunting in treated clothes....but that's more for me....keep the windows closed and quiet as possible....there's no escaping that nose...
