We have access to the 10,000 acre place all week long. I've got the 7 Rem Mag with the 180's dialed in, range finder, food, beer, and a compass. It's my first Mule deer hunt, and my first time to that part of the state, so I'm pretty excited about it. Long drive today, and a giant piece of land to try and cover this week.
Hopefully I'll have some pics.

Best of luck. Hunting mulies in that part of the world is one of the most memorable hunts, imo.

Go into Sanderson and say hello to my buddy Kenny Fred Stafford. He owns the deer processing place there. Great guy, humorous as heck. He's the 'Willie Nelson' of the deer processing world. He can also give you tips on hunting the area. He has land there and probably knows more about MD habits in that country better than most. Have fun and good luck.

Busted him and a doe out of the brush. They walked 100 yards away from me and he really wasn't too concerned about me being there. At one point he even turned his back on me. I've heard they're not as spooky as whitetail. Now I've seen it. I watched him for about ten minutes and let him walk, of course. Seeing any deer is better than seeing no deer.

I do if I'm up top. Soon as you go down into a canyon it goes away. That pic from this morning was a ten mile ride from camp.

You must have used a mirror to take that picture. The bolt is on the wrong side of that cool gun.

I hunted out there for a lot of years and never killed a mule deer- saw very few bucks. I hunted land between Eisenglas canyon and the Mexican border.
