I hunt both and there are benefits to both, but prefer to be in a tree. I like the open and extra visibility.

Advantage for ground blind is where there are no trees that will work for the stand and they are a lot safer to take a nap in than a tree stand.

I'm split pretty even - depends on the weather.

My favourite is actually walk and stalk using a ghillie suit.

With the right setup, I would prefer to be in a tree (or elevated in some way). It helps with visibility and I can aim a little higher on the body to stretch my margin of error and still get a good low exit hole because of the higher angle.

Out of those two only, ground blind. If tripod had been listed, that would be my choice.

I like being out of the rain and snow. With a ground blind you can carry a small propane heater on those really cold days. I'm getting older and hurt more. frown

I will hunt whatever is the best for the given situation. I prefer to be elevated with a little more view and as mentioned previously the shot angle. However, although I will hunt a hanging (lock on style) or climbing stand, I prefer a ladder stand or tripod. The times when it's raining, below 40 degrees or windy as all get out I'm ready to be on the ground in a pop up/shell blind/box blind with my Mr. Heater lil' Buddy.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.

I'd be happy with just sitting on the dang gate right now! Lol but if those 2 were my choice only, I'd go ground because I have a tendency to get a little too comfy when I hunt. Best zzzzz's I get!

I prefer an elevated stand, but will use a ground blind if the area doesn't have a big enough tree. I like to have the option of both in case its raining and I need a pop-up type blind to stay dry.

I hate hunting out of ground blinds but I will if needed. I havent cared for ladder stands too much until this year as I killed my best buck to date out of one in KS. My 2nd biggest buck was shot out of a tripod which I HATE. I really prefer to be about 25'-30' up in a tree. That is my preference however, i realize that there is a place for all stands mentioned so it would depend upon the location and the weather.

Depending on what you chose for next year....Go big. Buy a really good ground blind such as a Double Bull or a really good hanging stand. take a look at the Woodsie Too. That is the best treestand, hands down.

Have hunted both, but due to health issues, I'm grounded. Last year I had 10 deer around me in a ground blind, to have gotten a shot on any of them I would have to have moved some, thus risking being spotted and spooking the whole group. Was frustrating, but was awesome at the same time.

i went to a ground blind this year and found it very difficult to draw or even move without the deer picking up on something. i hunt in a bottom where there is very little wind to mask noise though so even kicking a leaf in there had them looking around.

i am a wuss and get cold quick, i like being out of the elements for sure so i think i am going to try to save some money and buy a nice enclosed octogon (krivoman/redneck/turtle) or box that i can elevate about 8ft.

Ground blind everytime. I wanna be eye level, I wanna look them in the eye like the real predators that hunt them and kill them on their level. Trees are ok, I've killed a ton out of trees but it's not the same to me, it feels more like an accomplishment to me when I'm 20 yards from something that can see better hear better and smell better than me and we are both on the ground.

I like being elevated since I can't really stalk much at my place. When I was stationed in ID all we did was stalk but pine needles are a lot quieter than oak leaves. When stationed in NC I hunted on base and your only real option was a climber since you couldn't do anything permanent, we were 25' up in those big pines on Camp Lejuene with no cover since the limbs were much higher than that.
I have started using a pop up some this year. I like it in the mornings since I can get out there early and then go back to sleep until first light without worrying about pitching face first out of a tripod.

For hang ons- Be sure and take a good look at the trees where you are hunting. I got a great deal on some and then figured out the oaks near the good spots on my lease weren't straight enough to use effectively. It was super tough hanging the one I managed to get up and the platform on it is still tilted. I'll be selling them and going w ladder stands next season; I think they are more flexible. I'd take a look at some tripods too if I could find one that had a big enough platform.

Depends on the situation and location...if there are no suitable trees a ground blind is your only option. If you have trees.. I like climbing sticks with hang-ons for bow hunting and prefer ladder stands for gun hunting if I have trees with multiple trunks & branches.

So, I use both.

I can't see squat from a tree stand until the leaves fall where I hunt.
Rake leaves to dirt in your pop up and wear black.
