I finally got the greenlight to bring my newphew on his first s tx hunt and we are leaving Wed evening. We leave in allen and was thinking about heading out at 5pm southbound 35. Does anyone know how bad traffic is at that time heading south on 35? I would think it would not be to bad until I hit downtown. then would remain not so good until red oak. Should I wait until 6?

Downtown will suck and it won't improve much until you are south of I-20. A lot of cars head south out of Dallas.
Good luck!!!

Waiting till 6 probably wont help any. Just go when you are ready & take your time.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

HOV south on 75 till 635. Then it's a 30 min drive to downtown. If traffic looks bad on the map, ill take 175 to I20 and cut over to 35 south. It's a couple miles further but typically less traffic. Either way, when leaving at 5, it will take you 45 min to an hour to get to 35 and 20. It should start to unravel just a few miles south of there. Good luck to you and your nephew. Hunting south tx is hard to beat.

Southbound 35 will be terrible. Wait until midnight. OK, seriously it might be better by 8 or so.
