B-Man,
Not sure what your question is. Are you saying you have a Rem VLS in .243 and want to go up..say to a .270 or are you saying you want to move up to a .243?

sorry for the confusion - no, I'm considering buying a heavier gun for my son, and came across this setup. I am asking for opinions or suggestions…..I have a lot of .243 ammo so I am thinking staying in the same caliber. However, If you think changing calibers to get the heavier gun is better long term, then please chime in…...

Need to know what it will be used for. In my opinion it is hard to beat a good shooting 243 on just about anything you can hunt around here. Especially if he is used to a 243. Another option is if you are wanting weight for a specific purpose you could always add lead in strategic places and weight up the gun he's using now.

I think a heavy barreled 243 is a dream to shoot. I don't know what capabilities he has but if he can get it out the window, it shouldn't kick that bad

Due to his muscle movement disorder, he has trouble staying on target with his current tikka. He used a heavier setup and it worked perfect for him.
Hunting targets will be WT, javelina and possible Mule Deer.

Have you considered getting one of these rigged up for him. I saw the one JG had and it's an impressive piece of equipment.
