Here's something I battle with every time I hunt.... Who hunts stands based on trail cam proof alone. We have a stand that has the most deer tracks on the place, but its hard to make myself hunt it because we have pictures of deer on other stands. Drives me nuts haha

We use trail cams to see what's out there, but don't rely on them much for hunting purposes. It helps us identify bucks we want to take and those we want to let walk and make sure everyone is on the same page. We have pics of bucks on cam that we've never seen live. It's just the way it is.

Get rid of them and do it like we did before they came along, that will solve the "blind jumping"....maybe LOL

IMO, TC's are just a snapshot of what was there at that one time, no guarantees, just another "tool"

I Use them for identifying deer fir management purposes and sometimes for choosing hunting locations. But like yall have said they are good at making you second guess yourself.

I use trail cams to "Time Deer".

Example, if I know deer are showing up 80% of the time at my feeder 20 minutes before it throws in the morning, I will make sure I'm in my blind 40 minutes before it throws so I don't bump them walking to the blind in the morning.

Another example. IF I know that there is a 90% chance I will not see deer from lets say 11am to 3pm, I will not bother sitting in my stand during those times.

I don't use my cameras to determine what is going to show up. Pictures are what showed up in the past.

This is so true. Even though I don't wanna go by what's on them, other than for timing purposes it's like Christmas checking the cams after I've been gone from the lease for awhile!

I have 3 hunting areas and my trail cam has put me in the right place to bag my best 2 bucks in the last 3 years.

we run around 20 of them from August to start of the season and then pull them all out - we do not rely on them while hunting - they are great management tools though in pre season scouting - we try to determine age and then have a do not kill board with pictures of the younger deer

You can't fix stupid

I will use it to find were the mature bucks are showing up and hunt the mess out of it.

Facts are much better sources than guesses

There ok if you don't over think it too much. Seen too many deer walk past cams of all kinds and quality and don't always get the pics. Also seen too many big bucks killed that were never seen by anyone, for me to base my hunts just off pics.

My best cam is the one on my food plot. I've gotten many bucks on that one that have never been seen. We have a feeder 20 yards away that doesn't get the buck pictures.

Id say if your in rut will be the biggest factor. They are so scattered during that time its hard to pattern them. But before and after is the best time to use cameras since the bucks will be hitting food/water/bed in a well patterned schedule.

Yea, I'm in the same boat.our areas are too wooded. I don't get much rut activity on cam. Maybe some swole bucks but that about it.
