I was drawn for the lake brownwood state park deer hunt next week. I read everything from the TPWD, but is there anything else i should know? I read that the deer are only allowed in the park if they are quartered. can i quarter mine in the field and backpack it back to camp? I have never paid to have my deer processed. I would hate to have to drive to glen rose to cut up my deer and then drive back to camp. Is there any other place around i could quarter my deer at?

Are you hunting the 8th-10th, or the 10th-12th? I'll be there on the first round for Archery. To answer your question, I'm sure there will be an area to quarter your deer for the cooler. If not, there are lockers in Brownwood to store your deer till you are ready to leave. Good luck!

Never been on the Brownwood State Park Hunt, but in most cases they have a place in the park, usually the maintenance barn area of a park, that you can hang a deer, skin it and quarter it. The parks staff make everything really easy, they want you to have a successful hunt. I was very impressed with the hole system and how laid back everything was on the hunt I went on. Just go and enjoy.

Struck out on standby draw - 3 spots with 6 in applicants. Park superintendent said 1 deer was taken during the archer hunt that ended this morning.

Well i got a young 9 point today. So far so good. Hated to see everyone get turned away that didn't make the draw.
