What bullets do you like use instead of Nosler ballistic tips? Looking for something in 243 around 80 grain for coyotes.

Bout anything will do. I've used 45 gr in Hornet, 55 gr in .223 and even .22 LR. .30-06 works too.

The answer is FLINTLOCK! Now, what was the question?

Just out of curiosity, why are the BTs out of the running? If you are trying to minimize pelt damage, a FMJ of some sort may be your best bet. Not sure that any bullet will reliably stay inside a coyote (no exit) out of a 243.

I think the world of the Sierra GK 85 grain BTHP, though it may be a little too heavily constructed for coyotes.

Sierra makes a 90 gr FMJ, I killed a bunch of turkeys with that out of a 6mm Rem.

I have run about every 6mm caliber bullet for predators and if you just want them dead for the .243 I would suggest the 75gr or 87gr Vmax's..... now if your interested in saving fur. Get rid of the 243.

Not ruling out the BT's, just looking for something a little cheaper.

I normally use Ballistic Tips, but when I was having trouble getting them last year, I bought a bunch of Sierra Gamekings. Worked up loads in my 220 and 270 and the bullets liked the same powders and loads that the BT's do, and they shot to about the same POI. And the important point is that they are a good bit cheaper.

That was 55 gr in the 220 and 130's in the 270. Got some 150's for the 308, but haven't tried them yet.
