Seeing Derricks work on here (Horizon Firearms). I have begun talks with him about building a rifle for me. I have no idea what to build. I'll figure this out. Not in a huge hurry so how is the best way to buy components, mainly the barrel and stock. Direct or through a dealer? Same with stock. Trying to stay as "inexpensive" on this one. I'm also shopping Sporting Clays Over and Under shotguns

I found receivers and had Derrick put the barrels he uses on them. On my .280 I already had a McMillan stock. On the other build I originally had just wanted a different caliber on the action and stock that was with the rifle. I ended up changing the stock to a B/C and also had him put a Timney trigger on it. Derrick is easy to work with and will help get you what you want.

If you are looking at Sporting clays guns, nothing is inexpensive. Zoil Z-sport is a good high volum gun that will not break the bank. I like it as well as my K-gun.
On the build... After deer season, comb the local shops and Internet and look for m70 or M700 as they have the most aftermarket bolt on parts. Go to the Shilen swap meet in the spring, and search gunbroker or sites like these for takeoff stocks ect...
I built a 300'WSM out of parts I had in the shop ( I did buy bottom metal) I will post a pic of it when I get in this week.

If your looking to get a Manners/McMillan stock call them and get your order in now. The wait time is crazy... Still waiting on my Manners.

Bugholes is awesome. If he has it in stock it is good stuff. Ships fast and is easy to do business with.

No reason to chase components, we can provide and in most cases stock everything you want from barrels, to Mcmillan stocks, triggers ext. Much easier that way

I'm also shopping Sporting Clays Over and Under shotguns Most guys like Derrick buy large volume at wholesale pricing. You will be hard pressed to beat it on your own. With that said there is alway now options and futures upgrades... Best just to call Derrick and work through the options.

Derrick is your man. I have just started the process of a 6.5 creed with him and he is the best person I have spoke to about building a rifle. I called a bunch of builders and most didn't sound very interested in answering my questions. Derrick is gonna get all my stuff except for my action. That's if we can get the McMillan stock color figured out Lol

Derrick is a good one.

Let Horizon provide all the components. His barrels are what he likes to work with and he has some great prices on Mcmillian stocks
