I was looking at the long term forecast for December and it looks like Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, etc will all be above average in temp. We are holding a good amount of birds on our units in Jackson county right now but I am wondering if these birds will head back north with the warmer weather. It was 75 today in Houston. We have had our DU units for about 4 years now and I am just now getting a handle on how to encourage the right foods. I haven't had enough seasons to figure out how the birds react to warmer weather. Does anyone with more experience care to chime in on this?

We nee rain in N tx. Place south of Dallas will benefit because of size of unit.
We had what many suggested was a reverse migration 2 years ago. I am hearing ponds full about 1/2 way thru OK then pretty dead- per THF member
Doesn't take big numbers to have good shoot. We just need to hunt smarter

Depends on what species you have. Most are likely gonna stick around. Mallards are notorious for following the "freeze" line.

Teal, pintails, gadwall, spoonies, and a few different species of divers. We have never had divers before this year. We have one unit that we normally only fill up half way but this year we took it to full pool. It's about 4-5 foot deep at the flash board. It stays deep for about 1/4 of the unit then the rest of the 80 acres is 1 foot to 6"

DU report says there are tons of ducks still up north. What happens up north is what is important I think. If it get rough up north they will be driven south and we should have ducks even with our warmer weather. I know I keep watching and listening for the waves of ducks and geese I have seen going south in years gone by and hope it happens again.

Down here in Corpus, there are birds around. But from it looks like not the wads I've seen last year. Warm up north still as the cold fronts did help push some, its not the usual. But there are a decent amount. Cant complain

Sitting at a goose egg this morning so far, seeing several high flying groups, probably migrating, waiting on the wind to shift out of the north!
