In 3 weeks I will be traveling up to Guthrie, Tx to hunt for 4 days. I have done this the previous two years and the first year thanks you guys who responded with pictures to me on the forum I was able to take my biggest deer of my life (scored 158) due to knowing the potential for up there and being patient and letting some good deer walk. Anyways, I know rain plays a huge part up there on food and was wondering if any of you guys up in that area or close by would share pictures of this year's kills so I can have a good idea of what is in store for this year. Thanks

Lots of previous rain this year. I never saw any hard signs of rut but it was two weeks ago I last hunted out there. I plan on going this weekend to see what's going on.

What ranch are you hunting on? The rut has been going for a couple weeks now. It has been slower hunting than usual because of all the green browse from abundant rains. You might have to get out of the stands to find them. Good luck.

Saw a lot of broken up bucks this last weekend. Actually was a decent weekend considering the weather. Deer were moving all day around ranch but we're eating early at feeders.

That's a great area for sure, but like Pitchfork said, lots of rain this year and plenty of forbs to eat. Hopefully the bucks won't be too busted up by the time you get out there. Rattle and be aggressive in your approach, if the deer aren't hitting feeders.
Life is too short, as is. Don't chance it. Don't text and drive.

Thanks for the information. I will be hunting a property that is bordered by the 6666's north camp and by the pitchfork ranch. It is a 5k acre property with winter wheat fields, mesquite draws, and CRP.

It's been a strange year in that part of Texas. As of last weekend, I noticed a few bucks back together and tolerant of one another again, lots of em busted up though. Does are starting on the feeders heavy, which tells me the main rut has pretty much ended; however, fawns with does also tells me that more is yet to come. Not much luck with my bigger deer I was targeting, lots of food and water have kept them in cover and lets face it outside the week prior to Thanksgiving we had the snow, the weather for hunting has not been good. I never have much luck in late season, but I do know of some nice bucks killed in mid to late December in that part of the world.
How come everybody I meet is a deer hunting expert?

I think you will have your best luck in the CRP. Good luck.
