But oddly enough, it's only when I'm hunting in the blind with four or five other guys. I know it doesn't seem legit. In fact, when I hunt alone, I miss often. Nonetheless, when hunting with a group, I somehow manage to kill all the ducks. I see the ducks, I aim, and I fire. Duck falls dead.

Any one else have this issue?

My brother had a spoonie shot landing in his lap this last weekend. I shot it again while it was falling out of the sky just to ruin his catch. I made sure to kill that bird until he died from it.

Sounds to me like your buddies can shoot well.

You ever notice "that guy" get's un-happy once his straps full and the group informs him he's done. "That guy" some how wants to keep shooting.

Lol. Yep. Still, each time I shoot, I'm under the assumption the falling dead bird is mine! Alas, I know it's not always possible...

Luckily, I'm upfront with my buds. I tell them my conundrum and I still get to hunt with them. So far, I've not been told my strap is full before the others...

I work under the "Hunt and release system", I prefer to scare the hell out of them and let some other hunter do the dirty work of killing and cleaning. up

I've thought about giving one of my buddies a box of blanks without telling him just to see how many birds he still claimed. I swear sometimes he doesn't even shoot and still claims the birds.

I'm deadly in a crowd myself.

Thought for the day: Ducks were almost hunted to extinction long before camo was invented.

I work better when there's an audience of terrible shooters.

I'm usually the one calling them in and calling the shots, so I stay pretty busy in the blind whether I hunt solo or with people. I tend to rush shots out of my layout and forget to get a good mount before I start blasting. I corrected this by talking to myself through the actions... literally. I try to say "up and out" "mount" "lead the bird" "shoot 'em in the neck" "stay on the barrel" to myself now almost every time. In a stand up blind I have no issues- it's just from the layout.

Wasn't born in Texas, but I got there as fast as I could.

I hunt with several guys off the east coast once a year. Very few of these guys have ever seen a pintail, much less shoot one.

Last year 4 members of the group were hunting flooded timber one morning when a group of pintails dropped in. Came in from right to left. Guy on the left shoots the first two drakes, 2 other guys each knock a drake down. 4th guy starts jumping up and down claiming 2 birds. All 3 guys said there was no way this guy hit a single one of them. He took home two birds and they are now at the taxidermist awaiting mounting.

Everyone present says he didn't even hit one. There is no way I would put either of those birds on my wall.

We commonly raise up on a flock of 20 birds and all three of us shoot three rounds each (9 shots total).
Three birds fall. And three guys say "I got a triple!"

Good deal. So on a public forum you're admitting to shooting more ducks then you're allowed while hunting. whip

I second this notion. Also, this is the reason I don't like to hunt with more than 4 total people. But 3 or 2 is even better...

Every one in the group could put pellets in the bird.

An old man friend of mine told me a story about him and a friend taking his neighbor teal hunting. Every time a wad would come through the neighborhood would claim 2,3 birds. They let a big group come in and let him hammer down, and they did not pull a trigger. Not 1 bird fell. They laughed and he said I got it I got it.
