We've been talking a lot about large caliber rifles lately and how we both want one. Yesterday he stopped by Cabelas in Buda and just by chance they had a very gently used Winchester Model 70 in .375 H&H Mag. with gray composite stock and Large-Caliber Leupold scope complete for $650!!!! Needless to say it's sitting in his gun cabinet now and I'm jealous! Gonna have to keep my eyes open now!

Think of it like owning a boat. You can borrow it anytime and at the most it will only cost you gas, er... ammo.

It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.

True, but you have to pay for the boat, upgrades, and maintenance.

You ever wanted to fish but your buddy has the boat? And he likes to take his sweet arse time getting anywhere and finally when he shows up, he wants to go to a completely different spot than you and fish a completely different way? Better yet, fish the same ol way all year round because that's how he likes to fish, regardless of where the fish actually are at that time. Them makes you worry about dropping even a morsel of crumbs on the deck because he's got a 60k super special model boat? And don't even think of bringing any liquids with any color to theming there. Or chips. Or crackers.

Lol me either. I just hook up to my junker hot rod and go when I wish. I like having my own.

Yes all that was uncalled for, I just like complaining about em sometimes. roflmao

375 H&H is a great medium bore, it will do anything needed. I seemed to always have a 375 in the cabinet since I was about 20,and most of the time it was an H&H. Now I have 376 Steyr, 375 Ultra,2 375 WBYs, and a 375 ruger- I was going to use as a project gun.

The 375 is my favorite bore diameter ( the 9.3x62 is my favorite round- followed closely by the 376 steyr)but 375 has better bullets ( larger variety) 200,220,232,240,250,260,270,285,300,350 grain. You can take everything on the planet with it, and it can be mastered, by almost any rifleman. I hunted one year (2006) with nothing but my 375 ultra and it killed everything I pointed at it from pigs, deer, to Eland. I still get a chuckle when we call a 375 a "big gun" yes it is ample, but not a huge cannon it is made out to be. Most folks that use one for any period of time, and shoot big game the size of Eland,Elk,Moose,Bears ect will not go back to a smaller gun. Try it you will like it!!!

I really like my Win 70 Safari Express in 375 H&H. If its within your budget and something you could use, I say get one. I don't carry mine very often, but on occasion I will get out and roll a hog or two. Great to have in bear country.

Yep, good all around caliber, can run mild or wild, from 235 to 350 grains. This was hit at 235 yards with a 235 tsx running Almost 3100 fps or a hair over 5000 lbs of energy at the muzzle! Killed many a hogs with this first model remington xcr, hs stock, Kahles cl 4-12x52 scope.

I got an itch for a big bore and ended up with a 416 rigby and 338 wm. I know you some of yall are gonna slam me but I took a 10 pt with a 20 inch spread and a huge boar with 416 last Monday. Didn't really tear them up like you think. It was like running a piece of rebar through them. They were both DOA. I like them a lot.

I once drank muddy water out of a hoof print and was dang glad to get it.
