I know some won't like this but this makes my day. Just got a text from a customer who just filmed himself one shot cold bore on a doe at 940yards with a 7 mag we built. That just makes me smile. cant wait to see the video, if I can get it from him I will post it.

This guy is good, I have seen video from him last year on 10 deer all from 500-831 with a 270WSM rebarreled ruger and factory ammo. This was hand load 160 accubonds. Said "she went bout from here to there"

Can't argue with that bullet placement. No way I could do that at 940y.

Be perfect for a 9 twist 7-08. That's what I need them for. Wouldn't take for my 180's out of the 7 Rem Mag. But this thread is proof in the pudding. A guy that knows what he's doing, a fine rifle, shot placement, and good bullet performance all the way.

Looks like it was on the mark too! Like I said in another post, I shoot a lot at long range but have not killed much at long range other than paper. I shot a doe one time at 708...it was a long poke, and for a practiced LR shooter with the right equipment, and practice anything 500-700 is very "do"able. Congrats 940 on that size of target is damn good!!!

Great shooting! I know everyone is all about the "latest and greatest" but the ole' 7mm Rem Mag has still got what it takes to reach out there and get some!

Very impressive shot. Through the heart at 940. No way I could do that. As always with precision shots at distance, the last factor that is a challenge is judging the wind and making the appropriate correction. That's why I shoot a cold bore at distance almost every afternoon that I am on the range. Windy as could be yesterday and I managed to get the correct hold at 500 first shot. Skipped out to the 2 MOA steel at 700 and didn't get a center hit but saw how far off to the left it was. Then I somehow managed a hit on the 1 MOA steel at 700. That's my classroom and I'm forever a student of the wind even though I teach it. I'm quite sure the man that made this shot has a whole bunch of range time under his belt. I would not have tried a 940 shot on a deer the last two days. Wind 15-30 variable takes me out of my comfort zone on a deer or elk.

Hey if he's comfortable with a shot like that, I say Kudos! Perfect shot from far away right there. Well done.

It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.
