Ok I seen that tx hogs posted you tube videos showing the xsight. My question is are there any videos of is actually being used at night? I'm considering getting one and like the wifi connect and firmware videos but where's the kills. Make me a believer

I'm hunting tonight with the 5x version.

Not sure about making you a believer but I'll at least have some footage of ATNs provided iR and night viewing capabilities to share.

It probably be more successful on top of Ole Snot in your hunting place that is jam packed with hogs smile

The 3x version is up for sale in the classifieds if anyboody is wanting to make their own videos

Tx hogs here is the deal I got a fancy 6.8. I got rid of the photon. I'm looking into either the newer photon or the xsight can you give you opinions?

Have hunted the X-Sight quite a bit over the past few weeks. Haven't been recording much. Own the XT also and posted a recent hog kill with it. Both are nice starter scopes, but the X-Sight has daytime color, better resolution and HD recording. Warts and all with the yet to be resolved issues....X-Sight, easy winner. Flipside, it will sit in the closet if they don't get the reticle in the recording soon.

25-06 -

I believe in all DFW has to say as we've shared notes on digital for many years.

Tonight is my first opportunity to field the Xsight at night so I'll have some thoughts and video for you tomorrow.

25-06,
I've got some night time kill footage, I will be posting in the next couple days, in addition to my hog kill posted here: http://youtu.be/JPkk_HxVq_A . Hands down the X-sight is better. I've hunted with both the photon 3.5 and 5x.

R. Edwards, I appreciate your comments and kill footage, but you referenced a comparison to the photon 3.5 and the 5x. Those are both older models of the Photon. Have you had any experience with the newer Photon XT 4.6 that you can relate the x-sight to?

Negative, I haven't tried the XT version. Though I have heard from others that have. They also prefer the X-sight. There are just so many features currently available, and some yet to come for the x-sight. I've had some minor glitches with mine, but they should get worked out with updates to the software. Also, I'm an end user of this product and in no way associated with ATN.

Does your glitches include a hard freeze of the screen while recording? I just had one of those an hour ago.

.30 caliber rifle

Looks like tonight will be a little less than half moon, I'll get video without IR, with ATN's included iR850, and some with my UNV20IR.

Alright, so I spent an evening with the 5x X-sight.

I could spot a ton of deer in open fields throughout the night but couldn't register them on the scope - I'd say the deer were a good 250+ yards away. I had a pretty good video (at least 10 minutes of large bucks and does) but it was corrupted by the low battery error issue.

Thanks for the review Ben. I sure appreciate hearing the honest opinion of someone that has a lot of good scope experience. I see a lot of shortcomings with this scope and I suspected that would be the case. I am sorry for everyone that had high expectations. Maybe a lot of it can be fixed with software revisions, but the distance limitation is probably going to stay with it. Not being able to pick up deer at 250 yds does not speak well of trying to find coyotes coming in to a call. They're a lot smaller and harder to see. Sounds like there is a lot of development that still needs to happen before this scope is very useful at night.

lets hope they get the issues fixed, I want mine for almost all night hunting, and not at all impressed with HTXH's video above, with all the issues it renders it close to unusable for my situations

Not sure when others ordered theirs, but I ordered at the end of March, still don't have it or know when its coming

Thanks for the video. I'm going to go with the xt and might pick one up when it's going good.

Know another digital scope that can do this?

These are stills taken from the video which reduces the quality, but still...250 yards is not an issue with the proper illuminator and proper adjustment.

5X, 1.0 mag

5X, 1.5 mag

5X, 2.0 mag

So , with the scope sitting at 2.5x @ 260 yds I would hate to see what 18x would look like. Maybe I owe Sachal an appology on this on. I would love to see photos of 5 thru 18x for a comparison. Looks like at the 260 mark at 18x you should be able to shoot the ticks off the belly with it.

there's pixalation at some point in the zoom. I believe in on of hunt dallas' comparison vids he zooms in and it starts to get grainy. Still very good scope and image from what I can tell. I still do not have mine in my hands yet to see where out starts.

Pixelation at high Magnification - The X-Sight uses a Digital 1920x1280 resolution sensor. As you move up the magnification chart the resolution goes down accordingly. Originally the scope was set to be released as a 5-18 but our developers were able to achieve higher resolution levels and we made a last minute decision to have scope go up to 40X. At 40X your actual resolution is only 240x160. Clearly that is not very useful for spotting small game but may be useful for long range viewing. We apologize that we did not release this change as a note in our instructions. However, we felt this provided more options to the customer. If we see that this only creates a distraction and no added benefit - this feature can certainly be removed in a future update.

X sight does NOT have any optical zoom. All the zooming is done digitally.

What you have to keep in mind is that an 18X magnification occurs between 3.5X and 4.0X digital zoom. There will be some pixellation there, but usable. Sachals explanation both confirms and explains what I have been wondering. It was sold as 18X max, but was delivered with a digital mag to 40X....and people complain. Any 1080p device magnified by 40X will have a lot of pixellation or really a blocky bunch of blown up pixels. My feeling is that once you get past about 4X digital, it becomes less and less useful fast. This also answer the floating reticle issue wherein the reticle walks off the screen. Sachal said elsewhere that that issue would be corrected...and I assume by magging on the center of the reticle instead of the center of the screen. Correct that, the pulsation and put a reticle in the recording and you have come a long way...
