I see them with price tags from about $1200 up to $2200 at the gun shows, Cabelas gun library, etc.
Personally, if you wanted to actually sell it within a reasonable period of time I am thinking you put the $1200 price on it and see what kind of offers you get. I'm guessing it would go for $800-1000. Condition is everything and, while that is a cool and iconic rifle, it is not in good condition.
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

32-20 makes it worth a bit more than a 44-40 or 38-40. If it locks up tight and has all the parts it came with $2000-2400 would be a good price, $2500-3000 if you find the right buyer. http://merzantiques.com/catalog/sell/winchester-model-1873-rifles

Condition doesn't matter as much as originality. If the wood is original and the sights are original that will determine the price.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.
