Thanks.. that buck pictured above is the biggest deer I've ever seen in this part of Texas.. I've seen him a few times before but he is almost to narrow to shoot.. big body and tall rack... I hope he spreads those genes around...

The 2014 whitetail hunting season ended more than a week ago so I made one last trip out to the ranch to collect my trail cameras. The river is rising and the ground is well soaked which made retrieving the cameras a big adventure! Seeing what the trail cameras captured just adds to the hope and promise for next years hunting season...

Well that was fun! Thanks for posting.
Is that near Bryan? Curious, do you have beaver there? When I've tramped around places like that a little further east, I'd run into beaver sign.
Very nice bucks for that part of Texas.

Lots of beaver, rats, and otter on that river. Sandy creek was up big time this weekend im betting that was the main feed you were seeing. Limestone hadn't opened any gates or that whole place would be under water

All in all this was a pretty good season. All the wildlife seems to be in real good condition going into the new year...

He may be skinny from being rutted down, but for as big as that sucker is, he actually looks pretty young in body.
Gonna be a monster next year. Like those kickers coming off.

I'm pretty sure that is the same buck I passed on in 2013. That 2013 buck had the same two little kickers coming out the side. I can't figure if he is old or what in his current condition.. his face and head don't look like a old deer..
