While scouting yesterday on some public land I came across a really nice blind on public land. This thing was not built from natural materials, this thing had a plywood floor walls etc, now granted its a long walk in to find it but wow, some guys just don't care do they. Only good thing about this is, they have been driving to it which makes my walk pretty easy. I cant help but think what will happen some morning when they show up to hunt their permanent blind on public land and some one else is in it. That will be an interesting event to be sure.

I've found a few blinds guys have built from natural materials in some pretty convenient places. Always wondered the same question

I found one the other day on a public lake you can park a boat on one side, covered, then an entire connected blind made out of sheet metal, wood, and metal post all brushed up. It is like a house or something you see in La on private land.

Rules of the game - first come, first served. At some point, you get to your blind and find somebody else in it. Nothing you can do, other than be polite and ask them to not tear up the blind you usually hunt out of, then go on your merry way.

Set up 20 feet from it and see what happens when they show.

Regardless of whether you got there first, something about folks building perm blinds on pub land makes them feel as though they own it and the property around it. Even if it's illegal to build it.

On public it's the "Right of First Possession". Get there first, it's yours.

Found a blind on public that was full of decoys a couple weeks ago. Probably 4 dozen or so. Left it like it was. Found better numbers at another lake so I didn't hunt close but I bet the next ones who find it won't be that nice.

We have a couple built on public! I would ask you to hunt with us in the blind, If you were by yourself. We get out pretty early to not have that sort of thing happen! Duck Hunters Attitudes change @ 430am and no laptop!!! My wife and I showed up to one of our natural blinds last year, had 5 guys in it. They shot 30 teal and left this !

Here's the thing, its sticks out like a sore thumb and it's not really brushed up all that well. The spot looks like it could be good but I found better all around it. Some guys just don't care about the rules and never will I guess. It's a shame the CPO's and Park Rangers are so thin they can barely enforce permanent blind and the no driving rule. I guess I can always follow kdub's idea!

It's usually not illegal to build a blind on public land - the catch is that even though you put in the time and cost of materials to build it, you don't own it. The state does the second you put any of it out there.

You may well bud a blind and come back the next day to find it torn down - that is the risk you take in doing so.

Edit: It may be different if you are hunting on NWR, State reserve or some other type of land. I'm talking about blinds on public land in the marshes - they are all over the place, and not illegal to build.

And again - all of these are first come, first served. If somebody wakes up late, that's their problem, not yours. I'm sure there are plenty of jackwagons out there, but the world would be a much better place if people would just have a little respect - especially when all parties are knowingly armed.

According to the TPW public hunting lands reg's this a prohibited act. Either enforce the reg's and prevent this or stake sites on the lakes to hunt and hold a yearly or bi-yearly drawing for the sites and allow folks to build blinds. The last thing I want to deal with when I have my sons with me is getting to the spot first and finding a permanent blind built and wondering if the builders show up will I be in a shouting match or worse at 4:30 in the morning.
