Pardon me for not knowing a lot about this gun, my GG grandpa left it to me. Heres what I can tell by looking at it ...12 gauge side by side , made in Belgium . The barrels say occidental and Damascus on them. Double trigger and double hammer . The wood is in decent shape , it is sanded but not stained . Please text for pics or to come see it. Otherwise this is all I know about it. 682-206-8705. I am in Keller . Make an offer

Gun could be worth $100 - $100,000. With no pics and no other information, I would take a risk and offer a $100. Can you post some pics?

What your describing is a pre WWI economy shotgun. They are blackpowder only and are not fit to shoot. They would make a great wallhanger but six anthonys is right on at about $100

My opinion. Keep the gun you great grandfather passed down, you'll regret it later.

^^This^^ definitely.

The value most likely is between $50-$200 depending upon the condition. From your brief description, it is very likely a trade gun made between about 1880 to 1914 when WW-I brought an end to exports from Belgium. The trade guns of this era were designed for black powder loads, have Damascus barrels, and short chambers (2.5 inches). Given the age of the gun and the Damascus barrel, it would not to be considered safe to shoot using modern ammunition.

I also feel you should keep your great grandfather's gun he passed down. 100.00 isn't much in the grand scheme of things, but rarely does a memory or family heirloom get purchased back for 100.00. Once it's gone, it's gone. I've learned this the hard way and would give any gun I currently own for my first shotgun my now deceased father bought me when I was 9 (H&R single shot 20GA., which may would bring 50.00 if lucky).

None of my business and just my 2 cents worth, but may warrant some thought and consideration. You'll always be able to get your 100.00 if you later really feel you want to get rid of it.

If possible, keep it. You will likely regret selling it if you do but we all have financial decisions to make.

I understand all your opinions, and a year ago I would have never considered selling any gun much less this one . Unfortunately we had a family accident that made me want to be far from guns for the rest of my life.
