I recently got on some land in the eastern Tx Panhandle and finally got some decent weather to do some calling. This land is full of deep canyons and rolling hills. Really pretty neat and not what you would expect in the panhandle.
Started hunting in the afternoon not seeing anything. Then the wind picked up and was blowing about 30 MPH. In about 30 Min it went from sunny to being completely covered in a thick fog. Almost surreal watching it come in. Decided to come back later at night hoping it would clear out and it did.

1st stand- nothing but an owl
2nd stand- parked the truck about 50 yrds from one of the larger canyon ridges. 10 min into call a coon waddles up and lays down next to the truck and stayed their for 3-4 min. Never seen that. As soon as coon leaves I catch some eyes peaking over ledge. finally a yote. He sneaks around for a couple minutes peaking over like a turkey. He finally gets his shoulders over the edge. Make a solid shot to shoulder and he flips backwards and rolls 500 yrds down the canyon. Didn't feel like climbing down a canyon at 1oclock i the morning so don't have pic of #1
3rd stand- set up in a low lying area below a feed lot. Get set up in back of truck and shine light. two sets of eyes right off the bat. Squeak a few times and bam #2 down(yote in pic)
4th stand- Move to a flat area next to a creek. Same situation as yote #2, Shine, see eyes, squek, bam #3 down. only he does the coyote death tornado into thick brush. didn't get him out.
5th and final- called nest to another canyon had an larger yote come in but not quite as close as I would like. He was hiding behind a wild plum tree. He finally came out far enough to get a good shot. Took the shot and he ran off yelping and hollering. Thought I had a good hit, went to take a closer look and there was a stick in front of him. Hit the stick dead on and took it off tree. There was a lot of blood on ground but couldn't find yote. Counted it as a kill any way

Great night and can't wait to get back out there.

Awesome, I told my deer hunting buddies that I would rather hunt coyotes than deer and they think I'm crazy. I just need to take them on a hunt and I'll bet they change their minds.
