My son has been hinting with me for a number of years, but he has a fear of shooting guns. He loves the smaller calibers, and loves shooting his bow, but just can't get the nerve to shoot anything big enough to hunt deer. This dove season he got the courage to shoot the 20 ga, and loved it. So we have been practicing with the 22-250 and when he was proficient (3 shots in a row in the 8 ring at 75 yards) he was read to hunt. This morning was his first behind the gun. We had a couple does and this spike come in. He made a perfect shot, center punched the heart. I think its safe to say this is a trophy to him. He was talking shoulder mount. Regardless, it will be a memory he and I will never forget.
We had to do the ancient Indian blood on the face for good luck tradition. He refused to wash it off when he got home.
