Take a vacation day, barf up a lung and call in sick, or do whatever you need to do to be in the woods tomorrow morning. I can promise you that on the first clear morning after these rains, and it being so late in the season with several good frosts to kill the browse, the deer will be moving.

When is thanksgiving considered late in the season?

Wait till after Christmas....that is late season

My favorite time to hunt down south is after New Years

Reports have always shown that over 90% of the harvest occurs during the first two weeks of any given season.

While there may be a lot of days left, it doesn't take long for the low hanging fruit to disappear once the deer learn people are after them.

That's cause most guys shoot the first buck they see

Also has a lot to do with rutting activity.

It won't be good down south for another 3 weeks

I believe the primary rut has come full circle where I am and with that, I believe bucks will even be more on the move. Some older does that weren't bred and late yearling does will still "come around" in what is sometimes called the "trickle rut" or 2nd rut". I have seen bucks almost every year still on the prowl after Thanksgiving.

Get a hot doe right now, with bucks running out of "womens",,,, Katy bar the door!

I had a windy and nasty rainy last few days. It cleared off and this morning the mature bucks were not moving for some reason. A few young bucks and does were all that was out and about. Hope you expectations excede mine. IME the best time to kill a buck is pre-rut to the rut. If it is in late Oct or early Nov in your area then that is when you will kill a buck. In South Texas it will be in December until early Jan.

I am pretty sure next weekend will be better than this one. Still not enough movement in Runnels county.

Watched two doe this evening a jumped two more deer while walking out.

A routine that includes frequent rotation between my food plot and stands along travel routes, combined with almost no use of the ATV has really paid off. I've seen more deer this season than ever before by eliminating feeder watching and staying more mobile.
