My old one died, and may or may not be fixable, and I needed to add another one, anyway.

I don't need one that does HD video, or emails me pics, just a good reliable camera. The Reconyx brand gets really good reviews but seem expensive. What say you folks?

Have a buddy that runs reconyx in Kansas and the other set has the Moultrie M80...reconyx seems to have a faster trigger speed but Moultrie wins the picture quality. I like the older Primos, not the new ones. M80 is a good camera. Bushnell and browning have impressed me so far but haven't ran them as long as some of my others. I hate Wildgame Innovations and have had terrible luck with the stealth cams. Good luck

I have had great success with Spy Point cameras.

I've been using one of the Cabelas 8mp IR cameras. It was $149.00 got a flyer in get mail today where they're on sale for $119.00 I'll be buying another one. Takes great pics and is really simple to use.

Last year we tried several different brands and models of small cameras, but none took a good quality picture during the dusk and dawn periods. All took good night time and day time pics. That is until we tried the Browning Recon cameras. They seem to switch to IR earlier in the evening and later in the morning, which gives you decent pics during those periods. I suspect the other manufacturers do this to preserve battery life, but we get about 15,000 pics per set of lithium batteries on each camera. Be sure to use lithium if you are in temperatures below 15 degf. The alkalines don't hold up well in really cold weather. We ended up buying 5 of the Brownings and couldn't be happier. The last two were on sale a Natchez for $89 each a few months ago.

I have had good success with Bushnell Trophy cams. Great on battery life and has a quick trigger for the price.

I like the Browning Range Ops. 8MP and good photos and great battery life. Can take multiple pics 1 second apart. Nice for catching different angles of deer. I was surprised how far a deer can move in 1 second walking a trail. I also agree with Phlash and the switching to IR earlier with the Browning cameras...

You can find them on eBay with free shipping and free tax for $95.00

I'm looking for new cameras myself. Stay away from the Stealthcams. I have had deer at my feeder, directly in front of the camera twice this year and it never took a pic of them. Makes you wonder how many deer the camera misses.

I had out three cameras - moultrie panorama, cuddle back and a cabelas 8mp.

I can't stand the moultrie as it just does not take good photos in any light. The cabelas takes good photos sometimes, but I think I need to set it further back and play with the settings.

The cudde back long range IR took awesome photos both at night and during day, so I got another one of them and I bought a bushnell trophy can that was on sale to try it out.

on the contrary to everyones hate for wildgame innovations, I love them. I have the micro 6 and its done me good for 2 years now. maybe I just got lucky and so happen to get the good one out of the batch.

You don't always see something or get a shot. That's why they call it hunting, not killing.

As I noted in the other cam thread, it isn't really an issue of brand, but of model. I have been through a lot of cameras from different brands. Every year, they are apt to make 1 or 2 really good ones and 3 or 4 dogs. For some brands on a given year, that may be reversed, but you just don't know. Most of the cams are made in China or overseas anyways.

The only brand that I haven't found a good camera from is Hunten, but after buying 3 bargain-priced units (different models), I gave up on the brand.

Great thread. I have 3 Wildgame Innovations. Pics when I get them are ok. As soon as I can afford it I will be buying something else and giving these to someone I am mad at. Way too many pics with no critters, no pics of bucks I am looking at when they are directly in front of the camera posing, extreme battery consumption and the worst is leaving a camera out 2 weeks with new batteries and finding NOTHING on the card (apparently they decide to go on strike and turn themselves off). Just had that happen yesterday tho it was only 4-5 days of nothing.

The answer is FLINTLOCK! Now, what was the question?

Covert MP 8 . Actually any of their cameras are great. I have had plenty of different brands over the years and lets just say these new coverts are better pictures and by far better battery life . My MP 8 has been out 3 months and still 100% battery life on 3 pic burst mode every 5 seconds trigger intervals . Without solar panel. I also have their black ops 3 G on solar panel that text pics and love these cameras about to buy another 3G

You can spend a lot of money and I am sure there are better cameras, but I purchased 4 Browning cameras from Natchez Shooting Supplies (http://www.natchezss.com) for $89.00 on sale...... work great and have excellent battery fife and a less than one sec trigger speed. Really good bang for your buck and easy to set up and operate.

I had been using truth cam for years .
This past year started using Browning. I like the Browning much more.
you can get the Browning online or sometimes on sale at Academy for $89-$99
Its more compact, better battery usage, better strap for the tree, can take up to a 32 G card.
Most important it uses a thermal/motion sensor so I get very few false images from heavy winds
