I don't hunt public but I like to be set up and ready to go at least 30 minutes before shooting time. So I would imagine you'd want to maybe make that a hour or so if your fighting for a spot.

Maybe someone who hunts public will help you out better than I can on this.

On a weekend 3:30, weekday 4:30. I still get beat to my spots even getting there that early sometimes. It also depends how hard the spot is to get to, most people won't walk over a mile like I do, I'd say 90 percent of the guys I see hunt the closest and easiest spots to get to.

between 3-5am is a good guess. In the past, I have been known to hit a certain area right about 2am if the ducks are there- but now I just sleep in and set up between people or offer to join and call for them up


Wasn't born in Texas, but I got there as fast as I could.
