The ATF has stated that shouldering the Sig Brace on a shotgun classifies it as a short barrel shotgun. Does that mean they will make the same decision about the Sig Brace on the AR pistol?

It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.

No
There is no such thing as a smooth bore 12ga pistol. A stockless shotgun is still a shotgun. A stockless rifle is a pistol. The guy who submitted that to the ATF is an idiot.

Use of a product is immaterial to the ATF classification for pistol vs rifle, only design.

It was approved. You just can't shoulder it.

I wish there was a picture. They must have taken a Sig Brace and permanently attached it to a sub 18" shotgun making it over 26". You can do a 14" shotgun with a birdhead grip without going NFA. It's one of those weird loopholes.

The firearm in question was an AOW; adding the brace to an AOW would change the classification to a SBS. Though they are both NFA you can't add a stock to an AOW

The ATF ruled that since it's over 26" it is not an AOW; and since it's not fired from the shoulder it is not a shotgun. The ruled that it is a 'firearm' only and legal. What people fail to realize that individual states have laws with verbiage the mimic the NFA verbiage and it could still be illegal in most states. Is saving a $200 stamp worth it to cut off 4" of barrel and risking a court case to prove it's legal in your state?
