Because I'm an Aussie I'm red deer made so I'm interested to see what red deer trophies people have taken, doesn't matter whether it's Australia, Texas, NZ, Europe or South America. Put em up.

I'll kick off,

These are free range Australian red deer.
In here you will find some of the heads taken by my brother and I, including my biggest red, my first stag I shot when I was 12, a mid stahse velvet stag that I'm still chasing and the mount in the sneak mount at the end if my dad's biggest a 19pt 39" bloke.

I prefer meat in it's original packaging.

And here is a non-typical double drop tine (very rare in wild red deer) and one of the best hunts I've been on, the one where my brother and I filmed and guided our youngest brother on to his first deer.

Here is one we still have to hunt! high fence Texas.

I took a couple really nice Rusa in Australia a few years back coming back in the next 2 to get a buffalo and a Sambar NZ or Australia. Maybe another Rusa in New Caldonia.

the first one was long upper 30s

this one I couldn't pass up I didn't find a big Sambar on this trip so I took him instead. Both were free range in Australia.

He's a big red that's for sure.

What part of Australia were you hunting for the Rusa?

I hunted the Rusa in Queensland. Me and my wife spent a month over there and we traveled all over australia. We did a big circle through the middle of the country and around then back up the coast from there. Australia is a beautiful place, wonderful food, the nicest people you will ever meat. I also hunted several other species including Red fox, feral goats, Kangaroo on a cull permit, and I came very close to shooting a good free ranging stag I wish I had shot him now. I have a guy who owes me a buffalo that I traded for a lion hunt over here with dogs. We plan to go back and start at Darwin and do the west next trip I have to get a dingo I am a big predator hunter. I have heard it is extremely beautiful out west and we are looking forward to it. I am a big fisherman and want to hit it where I can do some fishing as well, and maybe visit the wine country during season, and the great burier reef again. I live in wine country in Texas (very small) and the vineyards there are unreal.

Clay it's a little off topic but some of the Southern Australian ports have excellent fishing for Southern Bluefin. I think you would have to go out of an Eastern South Australia or Victoria port if you want to combine it with a hunt. I thought I'd mention it because the opportunities to fish for 200 lb plus Bluefin are few and far between these days.

for every stereotype there's a prototype don't be the prototype

Yeh it certainly is a great place when you have the connections to get all around it. Yeh the tuna fishing can be quite good down my way, about two hours from where I live they catch a lot of em.

You'll have to come chase the Australian holy grail someday, the Hog deer! I've just got on to some new property over there so I'm going to give it a real crack this year.
