Only buck I shot that wasn't a cull that I didn't have shoulder mounted was a old ten I shot. I was gonna have it mounted but a month later I shot a bigger ten and had it mounted and horn mounted the other

Wish I would have mounted it to have another mount but the horn mount fits perfectly in my office so it all worked out

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I don't really regret not getting a shoulder mount on this guy. I like the Euro mount.

I'll never shoulder mount one. I think it's a waste of money.

It's not about the money for me, in fact I would rather keep that $500 +/- in my pocket, however it's a sign of respect to that animal - to live on forever in my home - for giving his life to sustain me and my family with his own flesh & blood.

I look at it as honoring an animal for losing its' life so I can enjoy a memory. Taking a life is no small matter. I try to avoid taking animals I cannot honor in that way except when necessary.

I would never say whiskey is a waste of money. It's a vital part of camp recreation.

I just don't feel the need for a shoulder mount. Some of my antlers are sitting on beams in my shop, most have been lost over time. I did kill the biggest buck on my lease last year. I had my four year old with me so I leather mounted the horns for him on a piece of mesquite so he could put them in his room. Trophys just don't mean much to me but he was excited about it. Most of the pictures of my animals don't even have me in them. It's always one of my boys with the animal.

I've killed and eaten several hundred deer in the last 40 years including some giants. I've guided hunters to whom that trophy means a great deal and I understand that. To me a deer is just meat on the hoof. The memories made while chasing that animal are the important thing.

I'm not that cheap on everything. I have been known to drop some cash on a well bred bird dog pup.

I'd take a good day quail hunting over a Boon and Crockett buck anytime.

Capes are always available. Mounts IMO are a tribute to a great animal no matter how big or not his rack is.

Compared to others, this may not look like much of a buck, but it is a FL deer and not a TX deer. That's Dad on the left and this was the last buck he ever took and the last time I ever got to hunt with him. I lost him to lung cancer the next year. That's a hog hanging behind us.

Didn't mount this buck because he only had a 12 inch spread, but he scored in the mid 130's

The brows and the fronts almost touching - awesome buck. What part of the state is he from?
