Played with an Accupoint for the first time yesterday and the glass blew me away. In the store it was easy to pick up and focus.

Read some reviews that the tritium in it for night time really isn't bright enough. Some say it takes 30-45 min to get adjusted, if true, not acceptable for this much money. My Leupold Mk4 just requires a simple dial up down in power.

Anyone use this reliably for night time hunting? How about that time when the sun just peeks up or down?

If not this, any recommendations for something with an illuminated reticle that has at least 10x zoom. Going to use it on a 308 for target shooting out to 300 yards also.

Had a 2-5-10 for a couple years, and it was a great night hunter. I only sold it, due to a patch of financial issues. Regarding the illuminated reticle, it was fine for under the feeder or glassing fields. The light gathering was also great.

Really, the biggest issue I've had with any illuminated reticle, for night use, is too much illumination. Some scopes don't dim enough, and there's a "bloom" around the lit reticle, impacting one's ability to see things around it. The effect is it makes a bit of a blind spot. I've never had a problem with an illuminated reticle not being bright enough for night use, but have had some that don;t get dim enough. Day use is a another issue... many illuminated reticles don't get bright enough for day use.

From my time with the AccuPoint, it's good for both day and night use. Only minor issue I had with mine was the triangle reticle. It was great, for fast target acquisition, but not as good as the dot, for precision work. It's a preference thing... both reticles are nice.

The tritium is useless at night without some type of light source but I still like the accupoint.

Mine still had a glow, in zero light. I found it was just about perfect... Maybe the Tritium in the unit you used was bad?

Get a pulsar 750 or photon XT, if you want to shoot at night !
