I have been plesently surprised with some of the bucks i have seen and got on trail cam out there already to this point and i know that here in 3 weeks or so that will pick up and i will see even more new ones showing up. I just hate looking at those 7's i have lingering around with the same characteristics in the baskets and all missing the same brow tine.

What age class are the ones with missing brows?

Are they drought stressed from the past few years of a bad drought? I would want to see what those deer looked like last year or two if you have any history on them.

Age class on the 7's with 1 brow tine is i have a few that are in the 2.5 age group and a few more that are in the 3.5 group. I am not so concerned about this season as i know this season needs to be spent watching and trying to get an accurate read on what i got since it is the first year but i am looking more into season 2 and 3.

I hunted a fairly large ranch that had a forty acre ranchett on one end where the folks over there seemed to do a lot of shooting during the season.
I had a chance to talk with the guys over there one day and asked them how they were doing, and if they'd had any luck. They said they shot a couple of eights and asked me also. The conversation came around to what we consider a shooter and they explained to me that they are particular and only shoot "culls" as they called them. We pretty much agreed that the younger deer should walk.
About a couple of weeks go by and I see this ten point I've been watching on and off during the season that had broken points and one G2 broken off at the base at the beam. It would have been a pretty buck at about 3 1/2 years old.
Well, the buck went off into the direction of those 40 acres guys and I hear "BOOOOOOOM!" so there went another cull! roflmao
So the moral of the story is culls mean different things to different folks!

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.
