What bed-side quick access pistol safes do you all recommend? I have no experience with these things, but with a 2 year-old grandson, a 1 year-old granddaughter, and another little girl on the way, it's time to secure the firearms.

Thanks in advance for helping me protect the little ones.

The one I have that I love isn't made any more. Just bought a gun vault brand GV2000 as a present, and the recipient seems to like it. It has the code you can type in (battery powered) and a back up lock as well. Got it from lapolicegear.com for $119, but they are on back order now.

Fort Knox makes one with a cipher lock on it that is very solid, and comes in three sizes.

That fort knox has the lock style on it that I like, think they are called Simplex locks. The company I bought my original safe from went out of business, but I do really like that type of lock.

With really small children, unless you live in an area with a lot of crime maybe keep them locked up good and tight. I think a 1911 with the grip safety- most kids don't know how to fire that type.

I don't follow. Simply grab the gun with any half-way normal grip and you will disengage the grip safety.

It was expensive, but I bought the "Gun Box". I have two boys, I keep my XDM in it on my nightstand. It comes with a bracelet with an RFID chip that opens the door with a wave over the sensor. It also uses fingerprints to open. It plugs in but you can take it with you for a couple of days in the truck and it runs well on battery.

Fort Knox. No batteries. No electronics. Opens quickly every time.

X2. That's what I would recommend.
