Found a beehive on our place out in Nolan county. You haven't lived until you've eaten honey out of the comb. Think I must be part bear.

Mouth of cave is about 2 feet in diameter.

Below 50 degrees, bees become less active. But believe me when i tell you that do NOT like things poked into their hive regardless of the temp. About 30 seconds after this pic it looked like a cartoon -- black cloud of those mothers came pouring out of there!

I had a hive in my barn for a few years and I wanted that honey. As soon as I got my plan and tools together, the hive disappeared and the honey with it. crying confused2

I have never had "wild honey" but my grandfather had a honey business when we lived on the place, can't beat it on the cone. Good for you too.
I remember taking box loads to Piggly Wiggly stores and a few other places and there was always bees in the truck LOL
