Awesome buck! If it was easy then everyone would do it.

Your story with the cows made me laugh. I had the same experience with a lease 3 years ago. I was informed the landowner wouldn't run cows on the lease during deer season. Wrong. I had 4 feeders up, with hog pens. After a week of putting up the feeders, all of them were on the ground. Fences knocked over. After speaking to a few landowners in the area, I resorted to putting up electrical fencing, that worked great kept the cows, hogs and DEER out of the corn.

Great write up and it gives me heart to continue hunting when i have yet to see a decent mature buck in 2.5 years of hunting.

This may be a stupid question but why dont you have a cage on your feeder? Its not going to stop them knocking the whole thing over if it isn't staked down, but it will definitely stop them busting off the feeder. I've never put one up without a cage.

You can buy em for $30 or make them real cheap with wire.

Congrats again, really nice deer.

That's a great story of sticking with the plan in spite of all the obstacles. The rolling plains of Texas will make you earn your buck. The weather, wind, wasps, mud, it's always charging you a toll for the hunting. I got stung opening weekend by those wasps. A great buck and story. Congrats cheers

I worked hard to solve the cow problem, the wasp are just bad at my place. I bombed em 3 times to make sure, and still had a half dozen opening week. That picture was just 1 of 4 corners of that blind. I took a pic of the pile I swept up and it was a 10 inch circle, about 2-3 inches high.
