Those things are terrible. Don't let them crawl up the exhaust port of an outboard. They'll ruin the motor as soon as you crank it up.

Yep, you'd think I'd learn after the first time it happened, but this past year was a dozzy, so I didn't make it back out there to pull it.

But on the up side, I'm getting dang good at tearing it down and putting it back together roflmao

......or "sounds like cockpit trouble."

Every year, those beggars would build their mud nests on the cooling fins and fan blade of my A/C unit. One mud house would always seem to bridge the fan to the housing, thus rendering the unit inoperable. Then, after knocking loose all the mud, the unit would run but the fan was now out of balance because on the remaining clumps. So I would have to pour water all over the unit to dissolve away the last vestiges of the dirt. Often, I'd have to repeat the whole process several times each year. I've even had them gum up the scatter plate on more than one feeder.

The suckers never seem to get tired!

At least you where able to figure out the problem. My little Honda generator wouldn't start after sitting for just one week. I wanted to start, it would even fire up for a second, but that was it. I figured there was something in the fuel line and spent a few hours trying to clear it and find the blockage. Then when I had just about given up and was just sort of staring at the generator without a clue what to do next, I noticed that the exhaust didn't look right. Sure enough, a dirt dauber had filled it up and blocked it off solid. Once I cleared it out, it ran fine.

I didn't know they could sting you...I've squashed many of them with my bare hands. I'll be more careful from now on.
