If a mature doe is traveling with her male offspring (button buck), is there any chance she has come into heat yet? I would think she or her sire would run off the young buck before breeding. What say you?

Yes it is always, a good sign of rut when you see fawns running around lost.

A biologist buddy of mine once told me that when you see groups of does together they are often multiple generations and mostly related (grandmother, daughters, grand-daughters). I take his word for it.

From what I've seen, buck offspring are typically kicked off by the doe.

She'll get tired of him pestering her and stomp on him.

I've read that doe will keep their fawns until the time approaches for them to give birth the following spring.
