Ok, got a choke stuck in my gun (browning maxus) and have tried torquing on it pretty good, but nothing happened. I have stopped trying for fear of screwing something up (like ruining threads). Please feel free to offer advice, as I have a trip to stuttgart AR at the end of the week and would really like to shoot the correct choke!!! Thanks so much for the help!!!

I would remove the barrel then spray on blaster from the choke end and the chamber end and let it soak. Clean it afterwards.

Kroils is great stuff. If that won't break it free I'd make a trip to your local gunsmith.

did ya try puttin an ice cube in there while you turn? basically waitin for the metal to shrink a lil..maybe a hot rag on the outside at the end will expand the outer while the inside is cold, giving you 1 last hope. im sure you oiled it already?

I know it sounds counter-intuitive, but you might try tightening it just a bit then seeing if it'll back off. The idea is just to get it moving. Chokes are usually not so much "stuck" as "frozen" by crud in the threads. Good luck.

I had an flash hider that was stuck on my AR....I took a cigarette lighter and held it under the barrel for about 15 seconds while I turned the barrel, quickly got the wrench while it was still hot and it came right off.
Might give that a try, but if it is a camo'd barrel it might damage the finish if you get it too hot.

The ATF-Acetone mix was a "home brew" mix of 50 - 50 automatic transmission fluid and acetone.
Note the "home brew" was better than any commercial product in this one particular test.
Note also that "Liquid Wrench" is about as good as "Kroil" for about 20% of the price.

I use CorrosionX as a lube, penetrating oil on everything and protectant on guns and fishing equipment. It is good stuff but I can only find it mail order. Hope you get your choke out.

This is an excellent idea. Drop the ice cube in from the breech end and it should hang up at the choke. Let it do its magic. You could try tapping on the wrench before and during the turning. Sometimes a little jarring makes things break loose.
