Man the feeling of getting a nice buck is better than I remember! I'm still jacked.

It didnt come off my dads place for those that saw my other thread. He's having a little dozer work done, and i wanted to check progress. I wasnt really planning on hunting there since he was working on it thursday and friday. well he wasnt quite done and had the dozer parked in front of my main stand. Terrible timing i know but the guy was bowed up for months and after the rains the other week he wanted to jump on it. So anyway i high tailed to one of my grandpas places about 10 miles down the road as a crow flies. The last good buck that was taken off this place was 14 years ago by me (spike was taken 5 years or so ago). Theres just not a whole lot of deer around although there seem to be more the last few years or so. It got to the point some years ago it was somethin to see a deer. Last week i went to check on his cows and decided to pull the card out of the only camera on the place since i had my laptop with me and got a blurry image of what i believe to be the buck i ended up shooting. anyway the way it played out couldnt have been more perfect to me. It was hazy/drizzly saturday afternoon almost fog like in a way. I see 4 does cuttting accross about 120 yards out. they looked like they were getting pushed by a buck so i kept an eye in that direction. well all of a sudden a deer comes out of the woods at less than half that distance coming down a trail that angles diagonally towards my stand. The bigger body, dark gray complextion, and the way it moved was a dead give away to a mature buck to even me who hadnt seen a shooter from the stand in 7 years. My heart jumped right away and looking at him through through the binos made it worse. I had to repostion for a shot and when he stepped into a clearing i squawked at him and him looking at me through the scope in the almost erie wintery weather was just perfect and i will remember that image forever. anyway the .30-.30 rang out true and dropped him where he stood. i called my wife and she had to tell me to calm down lol.

even on a deer trip i dont go anywhere without some duck deeks! sorry for the long read, I am just tickled beyond words.

Nice Buck.

Where you hunt? Had a deer that looked almost identical to this one regularly hitting my feeder all summer/fall...now of course he is non-existent.
