Had a great weekend at the family farm. We only have 29 acres but it is surrounded by property owned by other family members. Anyway, I hunt every chance I get, usually my son tags along. We have only been hunting about 5 yrs and have been patient and particular about what we want to shoot. I have sat back and been a spectator and somewhat of a teacher to my boy these past few years, letting him do the harvesting. One or two deer a year lasts us plenty. We never try and fill all of our tags. This weekend I took the reins at his request since he shot a buck last year. Saturday morning, the feeder was packed with does and a small 4 point. Once they left we decided we would try and learn how to use our grunt call. I grunted a few times and left it at that. Well, 5 minutes later, I turn and look behind me, and here comes the buck I have been watching for 2 years. He's 30 yards behind our stand running towards us. He clears the fence that separates our property from my uncle's and is headed towards thick brush. I get my sights on him and holler at him and he stops on a dime, broadside at 40 yards. I let him have it and we found him about 30 yards from where it all went down. I couldn't be any happier. To watch a buck grow for 2 years and harvest such a beautiful animal on your own family place. In my opinion, it doesn't get much better than that. Hope you enjoy the photos and read. And thank you to all of you on here. I don't post much on here but I am usually on this sight daily reading posts, learning, from you all. I have included a game camera pic of this buck from 2 years ago along with after the shot pics. Sorry for the long story.
