I'm heading back to Texas from Kansas so I thought I would put some pics of how we did. We got up there Friday morning and scouted all day and found some ducks. It was pretty hard to get around cause most of the water we were hunting was frozen except for a few small holes. Saturday it ended up snowing about 2" on us but we ended up with 10 birds. This morning it seemed like the cold front pushed alot of the birds out. We didn't see nearly as many birds but still managed to get 5 birds and picked up a couple birds that got crippled the day before by some other hunters.

Nice. What part of Kansas did you hunt? I am going to hunt around Wichita and the SE corner in 10 days. Last year the duck hunting was epic during Thanksgiving, looks like it might not be as good this year.

I was up northwest of Manhattan in the northern part of the state. If it stays this cold about all of the marshlands will probably be frozen by thanksgiving. Where we were, there is already ice almost an thick.

Ahhh Manhappiness. Did a lot of mallard whacking up that way during college. The weather up there this year should make for a weird migration if the ice holds and builds

It was fun, but it was cold and the ice sucked. Should have had a 3 man limit on saturday if we would have been better on the gun. And Sunday the ice broke under us and froze up a gun. Thankfully we were checking how deep it was as we were walking out and it was only a foot deep. Missed a few birds to all that. But all in all it was enjoyed, and my wifes first duck hunt.

I hate ice. Usually you don't have to deal with it until after the split. Late season up there it's a battle to keep a hole open. I miss some of my duck ponds, I don't miss the ice. Great hunt. up
