Hey guys, I'm looking at getting into 3-gun soon, so I want to upgrade from my Beretta 3901 to a nicer Benelli, Browning or Beretta. I'm a big fan of the Benelli M2, especially with the pistol grip, but can't seem to find out much info about usability in a 3 gun match.

What kind of Shotguns do y'all recommend for 3 Gun? I know I want black synthetic, 12ga and semi-auto. Looking to stay in a budget of $1200 or less if possible.

Taran Tactical maybe, he does heavily customized M-2's. I bought a 21" barrel and sent it off for a Nordic mag tube, oversized charging handle, big bold release, so many neat things depending on budget.

Lookin for a Hi-cap .45???? STI tactical 5.0??

Beretta 1301 Competition... just add Nordic and you are ready to go compete. Less than 1200.

Best Value right now for Benelli type inertia is the Stoeger 3000 500.00 then add Nordic and they are getting decent reviews.

The Benelli M2 looks like it would make a great gun for comp, and that's kind of what I'm looking at now. Are there any comparable shottys with the same design that would be better suited, or better value for good quality?

M2, but not the pistol grip..
you are looking at about 1800 to get one optimized for 3 gun

Hey ccoker, can you go into a little detail as to why you would recommend a traditional stock over the pistol grip? Also, what mods need to be done that bring total cost to $1800?

Personal preference on the pistol grip but hardly anyone runs them.
They are OK for tactical work but 3 gun is much more fluid.

22-24" barrel
Common mods:
Extended tube (Nordic)
Opening up the loading port
Welded lifter
Oversize bolt release, safety
Fiber optic front sight

Some guys will have the trigger worked on but I dont feel the need.

The Stoeger is a good option at a lower price point. You should look at the Versamax too. It recoils much softer than most anything out there.

Having said that, the M2 is the premier 3-gun shotgun and you can't go wrong with it. If you shop around, you might be able to find a M1 Super 90. In addition to ccoker's list I'd add a rear sight and cut the stock down a bit. Unless you have a super long lop the stock will hang up with all the low ready/port arms stage starts and reloading you will encounter.

How about the FN SLP? I bought one after a lot of research thinking I'd get into 3 gun but I simply have too many hobbies and too little time. I am considering selling it, PM me if interested.

I noticed nobody mentioned the Mossberg 930. I don't own one, but I was thinking about it to get into 3 gun. Anyone have thoughts/experience?

I have a 930 Flanigan and it just won't stop. I have around 2000 rounds through it so far, and it runs great. I have seen several, and all have run fine.

Here is a great deal on what could be a fantastic 3-gun shotgun. If I had the cash I'd buy it for myself.

That could work well if it has adjustable chokes. I had a 21" barrel in mind, but the price is right...

Thanks Misfire
